The eighth postage definitive issue “Flora of Ukraine"

introduced into circulation a postage stamp with the image of a leaf and a
fruit of the sea-buckthorn The face
value of issue corresponds to $0.70 - a tariff for an airway letter abroad

The sea-buckthorn is one of the most ancient known medical
plants. The mentions of this wonderful berry are stored in an ancient
manuscripts of Tibet, Mongolia and also in doctor books of the Chinese
medicine. All descriptions are consolidated to that a sea buckthorn - an
universal herb. The ancient Greeks called this berry "shining horse"
as its fruits quickly restored strengths of patients and the exhausted horses.
