On November 7, 2012 the Azerbaijani post introduced into
circulation a postage stamp dated for the 20 anniversary of formation of
the Republic Azerbaijan National Olympic committee. President AzNOC is the
President of the Azerbaijani Republic Ilham Aliyev. The issue is printed in sheet
of 30 values. A part of edition, about 500 copies, went on sale in
the imperforated version.

Azerbaijan took part for the first time on Olympic Games as
the independent state in 1996. On summer Olympic Games the Azerbaijani athletes
won in total sixteen medals: in Greco-Roman wrestling, firing, boxing and judo.
On the Winter Olympic Games Azerbaijan had not won medals yet.
