In 2007 is started the construction of important railway
corridor Europe - Caucasus - Asia with participation of three states of the
South Caucasian region: Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. On November 12, 2012
the enterprise of post service "Azermarka" issued a postage block
devoted to the railway main line connecting capital of the former Soviet
republics - Tbilisi, Baku and city Kars city in Turkey.

In May, 2005
in Baku the Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Presidents signed
the tripartite declaration according to the construction project of a railway
main line Kars - Akhalkalaki - Tbilisi - Baku. The general extent of the
highway is 105
kilometers. From them the 76 kilometers will
pass on the territory of Turkey and 29 kilometers on the
territory of Georgia. For the Georgian party besides especially economic
benefit the railway main line has also a certain political value. Russia bypassing
Georgia can cut through the road to Europe for the trains. It is planned that
the railway main line Baku-Tbilisi-Kars will be started in 2015.
