On February, 11th, 2012 the Latvian post again issues the postage stamp devoted to the flowers. In previous years there were the stamps with images of peonies and roses. This year has come the turn pink (royal) lily. The postage issue prepared by designer Lylia Dinere is published in edition of half-million of copies in kind of tête-bêche pairs and is printed in mini sheet of 4 values in the state printing house of Latvia “Latvijas banknote".
The royal lily (latin Lilium regale) is the most rare and valuable lily. Its native land is a narrow valley among mountains of Southwest China. Bulbs of this lily in the beginning of XX-th century have been delivered to England, whence it and has begun the triumphal procession on gardens and world parks including Latvia..
