In news from February 25, 2013 the website UkraFil published
an information about three overprints on "Personal stamps" of Estonia,
secretly issued by the enterprise “Eesti Post”. The issue after about it there
was a message in the German magazine “Michel Rundschau” created an unknown
agiotage. The Estonian post is filled still up with hundred letters of the
angered philatelists from all Europe, demanding to provide them of these stamps
on the subscription
However, in two years prior to sad philatelic events in
Estonia the Latvian post functionaries decided to diversify the sad slow
leisure and also slightly to take a fun with personal stamps. Entertainments
developed into scandal of regional scale rumors about which actually weren't
spread out of borders of the Baltic republic. Why to wash the dirty linen in
public?
In 2006 the enterprise “Latviyas pasts” made the first issue
according to the program “My Stamp” – 2 stamps of face values 31 centimes - a
tariff of the priority letter across Latvia. The stamps were on sale freely and
nearly three years were in circulation.
Since January, 2009 a post tariffs in the republic grew. The
non-registered letter within Latvia began to cost 35 centimes. Understanding
that face value 31 centimes became unnecessary, creators of the Latvian post
self-willedally changed a matrix of issue 2006 and started printing under the
order "Personal stamp" with a new face values. Actually made a new
post issue on what notified nobody.
When the Latvian philatelists found out about tricks of post
"hooligans", they lifted a small turmoil. But the inflamed scandal
managed to be extinguished quickly, to pacify all and to calm. In 2011 the
Latvia post published a new issue "My stamp" - a set of 3 values
with the Latvian national art works fragments.
It’s difficult to predict reaction of admirers of the
Latvian philately when they learn that in their collections there is an
essential gap in the form of the changed face value of Personal stamp. That the
Latvia post persistently continues to hold back. However, now is late to angry.
Passed some years, and from this issue the trace caught a cold long ago. But
who will remember the old...
