The Republic of Lithuania post opens a series named
"People and Nature". On January 19, 2013 is introduced into post circulation
a postage block of 3 values devoted to the biospheric reserve Zhuvintas. On
stamps in block are submitted the images of fox, titmouse and orchid.
Unfortunately, the main value of the reserve - a mute swan isn't displayed on
postage issue. The information about competition preceding the edition of
the block is published in release of January 18, 2013.

Neman the biospheric reserve Zhuvintas was created in 1946 for protection of
habitats of waterfowls, relic and rare plants and a typical landscape of
southwest part of the republic. On the reserve territory are the lake
Zhuvintas known as the swan lake and also riding bogs adjacent to the lake with
a pine and water meadows is a cradle of distribution of a swan in Lithuania.
