On February 22, 2013 on eve of the holiday "Day of the Fatherland
Defender" the Russian Federation post introduces into circulation a postage
stamp devoted to the 100 anniversary of the fighter pilot, three times the Hero
of the Soviet Union, Marshal of aircraft Alexander Pokryshkin (1913–1985), On
stamp are represented A. Pokryshkin portrait from the work of artist S. Prisekin
and the Aerokobra plane.
The issue is printed in mini sheet of 10 values and label. Design: R. Komsa. Size of stamp: 42 х 30 mm. Edition: 400 000 copies of stamps (40 000 sheetlets).
A. Pokryshkin on Great Patriotic War fronts was from the
first day. He finished the War in Czechoslovakia where on May 9, 1945 in the sky over Prague
carried out the last air fight. He was at war on Aerokobra R-39 plane. In total
he made more than 650 fighting departures. In 156 air fights he personally
brought down 59 (according to informal data 75) planes of the opponent. He
became the first Hero of the Soviet Union three times. He was awarded by a set
of fighting awards and medals of the USSR and foreign awards of the USA, GDR,
Cuba, Vietnam and other states.
