09.05.2010 Transnistria. Hundred thousand Years B.C.

In Transnistria in vicinities of Tiraspol city there is a surprising place - Kolkotova Gorge. It some huge hollows which were formed at aeration and washing away. Nowadays the Gorge part is a city dump. But it is a lot of thousand years ago on its territory the river flowed. Elephants, rhinoceroses, deer, horses, donkeys, camels there came. On them cave lions hunted. Remains of all these freakish animals have been found on Kolkotova Gorge.
To this unusual prehistoric fauna, which skulls and bones are now exhibits in local museum of local lore, in 2005 the Transnistrian post has devoted an issue of 5 values and Block, known under the name "Pleisthocene Epoch". On the image of each stamp from above there is a text: "Kolkotova Gorge" Tiraspol. In such kind stamps have arrived in the post circulation and became known to collectors.

However, until now almost unknown there is that fact that is the corrected issue. All issue of a series and the block has been printed with a grammatical error. The word "Kolkotova" on all stamps and the block has been printed with a superfluous letters "JA" on the end looked as "KolkotovaJA". Authors of issue not too deeply penetrated into toponymics, therefore the name "KolkotovaJA" for them it was represented more natural.

This issue didn't intend to the 15 anniversary of Transnistria Republic and should appear on half a year earlier. But as the edition should be printed anew, having rectified an error in the name, a series with prehistoric elephants, deer and rhinoceroses has appeared precisely on September, 1st - on the eve of Independence Day. Thanks to an oversight of authors the Transnistria State holiday has been noted by post not flags with the arms and maps, but the nice animals which fossils excite imagination of tourists and philatelists is much stronger and brighter, than sample political slogans. Be mistaken more often, misters postmen!
