After two years silence of the Turkmen post there came the moment when the UkraFil website "teletype" almost failed from a stream of urgent news from Ashkhabad. The big postage premiere is planned for January 31, 2013 in Turkmenistan – an edition of five blocks which details of issue will be published on website UkraFil in the News rubric. So, the first postage issue is devoted to the Central Asian sheep-dog - Block of 6 values of post face value "A" that means Alabay. It is printed by edition of 10 thousand copies.
The Turkmens, being true selectors, removed unique breeds of pets, such as an achaltekin racer, a hunting dog tazy, Turkmen Alabay and kept them in an invariable look during the millennia. Alabay is one of the most ancient breeds of dog on Earth. The official name of breed is the Central Asian sheep-dog, the Asian or the Turkmen wolfhound. For some millennia Alabay incorporated the best lines of many breeds of fighting and sentry dogs. Turkmen Alabay is the dog hardy and unpretentious in food, easily endures sharp differences of the weather, capable for a long time to graze herd, protecting it from wild animals. And also the dog who able to protect the owner from snakes.
