In 2011 the joint post issue of the Russian Federation and the Aland islands (Finland) is devoted 150 anniversary from the date of the basis of Mariehamna.
The history of occurrence of Mariehamna (on-Sweden Maria's Harbour) is connected with the Crimean war which has defined the further destiny of Alands as the demilitarized islands. After war local residents have addressed to Alexander II with the petition for the basis on island of a city-port which have suggested to name in honour of the spouse of the emperor of Maria Aleksandrovna.

To the joint Russian - Alands post issue printing by Centre "Stamp" has prepared the souvenir booklet. In artly issued cover  are presented:
2 post blocks (the Russian and Finnish issues) on which the portrait of Empress Maria Aleksandrovna against a map of Mariehamna;
2 envelopes of the first day with cancellation of the First Day of the Russian and Finnish issues.

The post issues of Transnistian republic cause many basic remarks from collectors and reasonable questions concerning legitimacy of their use as payment signs. As TMR isn't the subject of international law and doesn't possess the legal status of the independent state actually lawful neither the currency nor other means of payment of Transnistia.

However, it is impossible to deny legality of the circulation of local bank notes and use of post signs at payment of correspondence within republic. Post documents are a proof of real existence of the state institute with what the post service of Transnistia undoubtedly is.

The images presented here of the letters passed mail and sent from cities of Tiraspol, Bendery and Grigoriopol in the various state instances: the court, university, the Ministry of Education etc., are the certificate of application of Transnistia stamps in the real post circulation.

As a rule, for correspondence payment definitive stamps of alphabetic face values are used. Sometimes letters are paid by memorable issues. But, as circulations of these stamps are extremely insignificant, on mail they are applied seldom enough. From definitive face value "A" - a non-registered letter to 20 grams more often is used.
